Prior to joining Donaldson’s two years ago Billy studied mechanical engineering at Fife College, where he obtained his national certificate and higher national certificate in Mechanical Engineering. Billy and engineering have a real spark - and since he joined the business his colleagues have seen him progress and grow as a professional.
In Billy's role, two days are never the same. He takes on different tasks and projects every day, making it much more interesting and challenging. For Billy, this variety is one of the things he enjoys most about the job.
When we asked Billy to describe in three words what working for the Donaldson group was like, he said "rewarding, challenging and satisfying." As an apprentice engineer, Billy has experienced the group's commitment to re-investment first-hand - whereby we put part of our profit back into the business, using the investment to encourage employee training and development.
Outside of work, he spends most of his time with his six year old daughter and he's a keen footballer too - having just signed for Newburgh Juniors Football Club. So not only is he a dab-hand in a workshop, he's skilled with his feet too!
